It is possible you will be experiencing some or all of the following emotions:
Shock Confusion Denial - this isn’t happening to me
Anxious and fearful
Feeling scared and alone
Fear of judgement from your partner, family and friends
Desperate
Unable to cope
You may feel a lot of pressure from other people about your situation. It is important to take time to gather all the facts so that you can make an informed decision that is best for you and your baby. Talking with a trained pregnancy counsellor or a medical professional is a good idea. This will help you clarify your thoughts and how you really feel about your pregnancy and the options open to you.
There are trained people you can turn to for help and support. When dealing with a counsellor or help agency, keep in mind you should expect to be treated with respect and confidentially. The counselor should value you as a person, regardless of your age, or your personal circumstances and be able to relate to you in a non judgmental way.
There are many sources of help. The following National organisations are recommended. They have websites and Freephone numbers and will be able to put you in touch with someone if you wish to talk face-to-face.
Tel 0800 NEED TO TALK - 0800 633 328

Rather than a Freephone number they have a series of local numbers which can be found on the website or under 'P' in the Yellowpages.
